Island Women sponsors several special fundraising events each year, we also partner with local businesses and organizations on the island to help raise awareness and funds to support worthy causes. Dates and details for these events are published on the Island Women’s Facebook page and are often featured in the Island Gazette. Please contact us for more information about these events.

Martha’s Kitchen BBQ fundraiser with raffle and silent auction is held in January and sponsored by Stoked Restaurant in partnership with Island Women and Island Men. This fundraiser benefits Martha’s Kitchen, a local nonprofit that provides food for the less fortunate in our community.

Missed Pleasure Island Pageant presented by Island Men is an evening of entertainment that features local men channeling their inner divas in a drag competition. Held in February, tickets sell out fast to people eager to find out who will win the coveted crown. Raffle tickets and gift baskets made by Island Women are auctioned off pre-show with all proceeds going to support the work that we do on the island and neighboring communities.

Island Women members dress up in their festive green St. Patrick's Day attire to participate in The Steve Haydu Lo Tide run every March. Open to the public, this organization’s goal is to raise money for New Hanover County residents in need of financial assistance due to a cancer diagnosis.

Little Pink Houses of Hope is national organization that offers breast cancer patients and their families an opportunity to enjoy free, week-long vacation retreat. Kate Weiss (of Kate’s Pancakes) coordinates the mid-summer retreats in Carolina Beach with help from Island Women volunteers. Our members report this is one of the most rewarding activities they participate in each year.

Boutique Bash made its debut in 2022 and was an instant hit! Island Women offer women an opportunity to shop in selected local shops and boutiques via chauffeured Flamingo topped golf carts. Each shop and boutique feature special sales, raffles and treats just for our Boutique Bash participants. Offered in spring and fall, this promises to be one of our most anticipated events.

The annual Flock of Food Trucks Rodeo is sponsored by Island Women and kicks off the 4th of July weekend festivities on the Thursday night before. Showcasing some of the area’s best bands, food trucks, local venders and offering a fun filled kid zone, what better way to spend a summer night.

Join us on the Carolina Beach pavilion every Wednesday night from late May until the end of August for Island Women’s Flamingo Bingo. The excitement of being the first to call out “Bingo!” and a chance to win prizes being people back again and again. Each week, part of the proceeds is given to a local charity or civic organization each Wednesday night. $7,500.00 was awarded during the 2022 season.

Island Women has sponsored several winning teams in the annual Dragon Boat Regatta race! Teams compete in brightly colored boats decorated with carved dragon's heads and tails. Fun for spectators and participants, proceeds go to local charities and children's civic, educational and athletic activities supported by the Island Men and Ocean Cure.

Island Women helps support our local businesses by partnering with Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce during their annual Holiday Shopping Spree This fun filled weekend features sales, prizes and treats at participating stores, ending with a visit from Santa. What better way to start the holiday season.
